Idea

Momentoria is an arts and health product that draws upon creativity, storytelling and human connection to build self-esteem, self-awareness and interpersonal relationships in simple, beautiful and accessible ways

Explore your life stories of courage, freedom, joy, love and strength through art.

The creative process can offer fresh new ways to think and talk about our lives and our mental health; breaking down barriers, encouraging honesty, building empathy and increasing mindfulness.

Impact

“Experiencing Momentoria, as both the artist and the storyteller, was quite incredible. It’s amazing how the process really holds you, from the safe space created by the confetti, to being guided by the beautiful storytelling cards.

You see how the art is almost a tool by which you communicate your commitment to being there with the person, being truly present, open and accepting of them and the intimate stories of vulnerability and strength that they share with you.

This project is important because our stories are important. Honouring real, uncensored experiences is important. Learning to hold space for one another is important. Authentic human connection is important. And, well, making pretty things with your friends is fun!”

— Tahlia Trijbetz, Social Worker & Counsellor

At our launch event in Sydney we asked almost 100 attendees how they felt before and after using Momentoria.

At the start of the night, 75% of feelings reported were negative or neutral. Many people reported feeling overwhelmed, stressed, lost, heavy, flat or tired.

Over the course of the night, participants spent 1.5 hours creating artworks for themselves, for their friends and family. They laughed, cried and engaged in open discussion about mental health.

A huge shift occurred and by the end of the night peoples language to describe their feelings changed significantly. Positive feelings more than tripled up from 25% to 85%. The highest reported feelings after using Momentoria were calm, connected and inspired.
